This bell was part of the station and survived through the battle and war, as a gift it was a symbol of the strong bond between Britain and Egypt and is still used today to signal the beginning of the commemorative church service held every Alamein day at Enham-Alameins St Georges Alamein church.
The Second Battle of El Alamein (23 October – 11 November 1942) was a battle of the Second World War that took place near the Egyptian railway halt of El Alamein. The First Battle of El Alamein and the Battle of Alam el Halfa had prevented the Axis from advancing further into Egypt and eventually defeated by the British Eighth Army.
